On behalf of the Organising Committee, I extend a very warm invitation to you to participate in the 3rd Congress of the Asia Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (AAMLS) to be held from July 30th – July 31st, 2009 in Yokohama, Japan. The year 2009 marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama.

The Congress is held every four years - the 1st was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2001 and the 2nd in Shanghai, China in 2005. The theme for the 3rd Congress is “Innovation of Biomedical Laboratory Science in Asia”.

We have lined up an exciting programme for both medical laboratory scientists and those interested in the rapidly developing field of diagnostic medical testing in this part of the world. This will be a good opportunity to network with an international audience of technologists, scientists, executives and decision makers.

The keynote address and the varied plenary lectures and symposia have been carefully selected to ensure a stimulating and wide-ranging scientific programme. Special lectures on “Current Situation and Future of Degenerating Medicine” and “Gene Chips” have been arranged for the plenary lectures while the symposia will include sub-themes on “Innovation of Technology” and “Innovation of Strategy”.

With your active participation and support, this event will be a great success. We hope to make this meeting academically enriching and socially enjoyable, and a truly memorable experience for all delegates and accompanying persons.
